Mirror Sunglass Lenses
Mirror lenses are a popular addition to sunglasses, offering an extra level of style and functionality to your glasses. They are coated with a reflective surface which creates a mirror-like effect, while also reducing the amount of light entering your eyes.
These lenses are ideal for sunny or high-glare environments, providing you with clearer vision and avoiding excessive eye strain. We also offer a wide range of mirror lens colours to personalise your sunglasses and enhance your preferred characteristics.
Benefits of Mirror Lenses
Mirror sunglass lenses offer a range of benefits when compared to standard sunglass lenses.
Reduced Glare: Mirror coatings reflect sunlight, providing excellent protection from intense glare. This makes them perfect for activities like driving, watersports, and skiing.
Enhanced UV Protection: Our mirror lenses offer enhanced UV-blocking, ensuring your eyes are shielded from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Privacy: From the outside, the reflective coating conceals your eyes, offering greater privacy while still maintaining clear vision for the wearer.
Style: Our mirror lenses are available in vibrant shades and make an eye-catching addition to any outfit.
Mirror Coatings Colours
When choosing a mirror coating for your sunglasses, we offer six different colours, each offering a unique, personalised appearance to your glasses. Our options are Gold, Silver, Blue, Green, Purple, and Red.
All of our mirror coatings offer 100% UVA and UVB protection, regardless of the colour selection with a “full mirror” design. This means the lenses appear to be completely reflective from the outside.
How Are Mirror Lens Coatings Applied?
Mirrored sunglasses use a reflective coating that is applied to the lens, similar to a mirror. The process starts with adding a mirror-like optical coating to the front of the lens, followed by a tint in a colour of your choice. This combination reduces the amount of light entering the lens, minimises glare, and creates a distinctive mirrored appearance.

Applications of Mirrored Lenses
Mirrored lens sunglasses are used across various activities and environments to improve visual performance and protection:
Outdoor Recreation & Sports
These lenses are beneficial for sports such as skiing, snowboarding, water sports, hiking, and cycling. They help reduce brightness reflecting from surfaces like water and snow, improving visual clarity and performance.
Driving
They can increase driving comfort and safety by reducing the amount of light reflected by the road and other vehicles.
Fashion and Style
They have a unique visual appeal in addition to being functional. They are popular in fashion-forward eyewear designs because of their shiny surfaces, which give them a contemporary and fashionable appearance.
High-Glare Environments
In environments with intense light conditions, such as deserts or open water bodies, these lenses provide essential protection by reflecting a significant amount of light, thereby reducing eye strain and improving comfort.
Mirror Sunglass Lenses FAQs
Are mirror lenses good for everyday wear?
Mirror lenses can be worn daily, but they are particularly useful in bright, sunny conditions. Mirror lenses can be worn as an alternative to standard sunglasses, offering a unique style and enhanced qualities.

Our mirror lenses come with complete UVA and UVB protection, ensuring your eyes are completely protected from the sun’s most damaging rays. This can also help to avoid eye strain and improve vision comfort when outside or in a bright environment.
Are mirror lenses available for prescription sunglasses?
Indeed! You can get mirror coatings on prescription sunglasses, allowing you to benefit from vision correction and sun protection.
All the brands we stock have options that suit your prescription, whether you need single-vision, bifocal, or varifocal lenses. Simply upload your details when ordering, and your frames will be made to your specifications.
Do mirror lenses scratch easily?
It is recommended that mirror lenses are treated with a scratch-resistant coating to avoid excessive wear, but proper care is still important to ensure they last longer.
Can I get mirror lenses in different frame styles?
Absolutely! Mirror lenses are available in various frame styles, from classic aviators to modern rectangular designs, ensuring you're up to date with the latest trends. You can find a pair that complements your look, whether you prefer a sporty wraparound frame or a fashionable oversized look.

Do mirror lenses affect colour perception?
Colour perception may be slightly altered by mirror coatings, depending on the reflecting coating and hue. For instance, silver or blue-tinted lenses maintain a more neutral colour balance, while gold or brown-tinted mirror lenses improve contrast, making them perfect for sports.
If you're looking for polarised sunglasses, consider pairing them with a mirror finish for maximum glare reduction without excessive colour distortion.
