Simple Tips for Healthy Eyes
Want to know what you can do to look after your eyes? With some little love and care, you can help your eyes stay in great shape, and there’s no need to break into a sweat. Go through the list below and see if there are any areas where you can make improvements.
Wear prescription sunglasses throughout the summer. Ensure the sunglasses protect you from UV light and wear your glasses as even when the sky is cloudy, clouds don’t protect your eyes from UV radiation!
Go for eye tests at least every 18 months. If you don’t have vision problems corrected they can get worse. If you’re wearing the wrong corrective glasses they can lead to increased vision issues and headaches. Get them checked and stay on top of your vision.
When you use a computer screen ensure the light is just right. You need to try and avoid glare on the screen and the light in the room needs to be organised to avoid eye strain. Overhead lighting is not ideal; pick several lower level lamps instead. Computer users also blink less, so remember to blink frequently and take regular breaks from looking at the screen.
Eat foods that are good for your eyes. You need foods that are rich in vitamins C and E, as well as foods that contain zinc, selenium, and folic acid. While they don’t really affect the eyes, they can help to prevent ageing eyesight issues such as macular degeneration.
